Surges and avalanches in the southern and western areas of Sri Lanka have asserted 65 lives.
Of the dead, 37 were accounted for in Kalutara region and 28 in Ratnapura region. Many are said to miss, 70 from Kalutara area alone.
An aggregate of 7,856 individuals of 2,811 families were influenced in the Sabaragamuwa, western and southern areas by heavy rains, as per the Disaster Management Center or DMC.
The surges have marooned 7,157 individuals in Galle, the most noticeably awful influenced locale.
The DMC has exhorted general society to clear from precarious inclines to limit calamities because of avalanches or shake falls in Kegalle, Galle, Kalutara, Matara and Hambantota areas, if the showers proceed for the following 24 hours.
In the interim, the Meteorology Department said downpours and breezy conditions are relied upon to proceed over the south-western district.
The administration has shut schools in the influenced territories and has wiped out all exams which were expected to be held as of now.
